Coronation Street spoilers: Fan favourite character EXITS soap amid death horror - Express.co.uk

Following the reveal that Luke (played by Dean Fagan) had been killed in the car explosion from Friday’s episode of the ITV soap, Weatherfield residents were rocked to their core. 

Members of the press descended on the cobbles amid the murder investigation, and a distraught Alya Nazir (Sair Khan) struggled to cope with the loss of her boyfriend.

Yet it was Kate Connor (Faye Brookes) who decided she couldn’t take any more upset following months dealing with a painful secret relationship with Rana Nazir (Bhavna Limbachia), who continually refused to leave her husband Zeedan (Qasim Akhtar). 

Apologising to a distraught Alya in The Rovers’ Return pub, Kate assured: “I’m at the end of the phone day or night yeah?”

As Kate and Rana were forced to say goodbye before the former’s taxi arrived, Kate sobbed: “I’m sorry, it’s too hard. I love you.”

“Then don’t go,” Rana begged.

Just as the pair seemed about to kiss goodbye, Sophie Webster (Brooke Vincent), who Kate had kissed at the start of the episode, joined the conversation.

Admitting that she was going away “for a bit” to Carla Connor’s (Alison King) house in the countryside, Kate seemed at a loss before Sophie grabbed her for a close hug as an envious Rana looked on.

Sophie and Rana were forced to watch Kate depart over the cobbles just as viewers were given a glimpse at Pat’s (Connor McIntyre) next victim. 

Teenager Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni) discovered the truth about Pat’s role in Luke’s death by sifting through the singed evidence in Pat and Eileen’s (Sue Cleaver) garden waste, but little did he know that the unhinged killer was watching from an upstairs room.
