Imagine a game that sounds crazy and amazing at the same time. A game where you run but possibilities are that you will slip more often. After the raring popularity of the turf ball concept in Hyderabad, it is time to play soap football. This non-professional football is all about slipping, sliding, rolling and making a goal.

The first soap football has come up in Madhapur and the place is already booked for fun times by young football lovers and amateurs. To prevent players from getting hurt from the slippery fall, the floor is made up of thick layers of foam, topped with a coating of PVC. On this diluted soap water is poured all over the floor, to make players slip and slide and enjoy the game.

This game comes with no rules. With five players in each team, playing session of each is an hour, and all one has to do is score goals. Apart from the soft floor and the inflated tubes for protection of players, the players can also choose to wear other protective gears.

Situated atop D Mart in Kavuri Hills the soap football turf is about 2500 sq ft. “At the present there are two such turf and the response is amazing,” says Ahamad Jalaluddeen, one of the founding partners of Soap Football. Soap football was first introduced in Chennai by Jalaluddeen and his partner and they are slowly spreading to other cities. “My partner happened to visit a soap football arena in the Middle East and loved it, so we decided to first introduce it in Chennai,” says Jalaluddeen.

A game here is sure to make the body sore the following day but players say it’s nothing much like a bodily injury. The constant fall and slip stretches the muscles everywhere and the soreness is an outcome of that,” says Jalaluddeen.
