After launching her first yoga app last summer, Gemma told FEMAIL that she was happier than ever since quitting the teen soap, as her busy schedule had taken its toll.
'Life was very, very hectic for me,' she said of her time on Hollyoaks. 'When I left, I was like, "What do I do now?" I was so used to people telling me what to do every day - when I could go into makeup, go to the loo, eat my lunch.
'I used to go to the gym at 6am, have a shower, go into makeup, shovel down breakfast, then work a ten-hour day. My life was 120mph, I was completely burned out. All I did was go to the gym and work.'

Lucy's distressing storyline came to its conclusion last month with her attacker Nathan Curtis - who was part of a sex ring that also included police officer Neil Clifton.
The skin-crawling character was sentenced to prison alongside the gang after they were found guilty of raping Bethany and of conspiracy to rape.
Initially, Nathan appeared to be Bethany's knight in shinning armour after he found her crying and then passed out after overdosing on diet pills in December 2016.
But his true colours soon shone through as viewers discovered that he was part of a grooming ring.

The Inside Soap Awards are one of the biggest nights in the soap calendar with star names from Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks stepping out on the red carpet.
Rounding off another successful year, Emmerdale was crowned Best Soap for the third year in a row, bringing their haul of trophies on the night to eight.

Her character Bethany Platt was gang-raped as well as mentally abused by evil boyfriend Nathan Curtis.
In a recent interview with The Sun's Fabulous magazine Lucy revealed how difficult and draining her months of filming the grooming storyline over the spring and summer were.
She said she was brought to tears when she filmed the horrific rape scene with Nathan's friend, police officer Neil.
Lucy told the publication: 'There have been scenes where I have genuinely cried because they've been so hard to do.'
