Linden Avenue shut down after fire at old soap factory - WDTN

DAYTON (WDTN) — Fire crews have shut down the 300 block of Linden Avenue after a massive fire at the old Hewitt Soap Company factory.

The fire broke out just before 9 p.m. on Thursday night.

It took firefighters several hours to knock down the fire, with firefighters using ladder trucks to get water of the building from above.

The building sustained heavy damage. Hewitt stopped production at the Dayton factory in 2005.

Linden has been shutdown between East Fifth Street and Mabel Avenue.

Dayton Power & Lights was called to the scene along with multiple fire crews.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
