Leyla, played by Roxy Shahidi, finds Emma, played by Gillian Kearney, fast asleep and spots the tablets.
Deciding that now is the right time to delve a little deeper, Leyla goes in for an unnoticed rummage.
Realising why Emma is so dead to the world, Leyla tells the boys - who fear she’s dead.
It's been an eventful few weeks for the character, who was single-handedly responsible for the multi-car pile-up last month that killed her beloved James.
The latest tense episode comes after Diane Sugden lashed out at Lachlan White in last night's instalment.
Diane, played by Elizabeth Estensen, went on the warpath against the villain, played by Thomas Atkinson.
Hitting the troubled teenager, he continued to maintain his innocence against shooting his grandfather Lawrence, played by John Bowe.
Speaking recently on This Morning, soap star Elizabeth spoke about the explosive storyline.
“He is a child and he’s just being impertinent and he’s holding the camera and she hits him,” said the 67-year-old Emmerdale actress.
"She is filled by that impotent rage when someone is lying and they won’t admit it.
“That’s what the scripts have led me to feel. She is not out of character, it’s what she really feels.”
The soap star recently filmed scenes for Emmerdale’s Christmas special and revealed that no fake snow was needed this year due to the current cold weather conditions.
Emmerdale continues tonight on ITV at 7pm.
