Steve Burton To Leave "Young And The Restless" After Contract Expires In December

It has been announced by actor Steve Burton himself via his Twitter account saying that he will no longer be renewing his contract with "Young and the Restless" when it ends this December. He did not explain further his reason for leaving, but he indicated that his decision was already final after careful thinking. Nevertheless, he thanks CBS and his "Young and the Restless" family for the three years that he has been with the show.

Burton started playing the role of Dylan McAvoy in the "Young and the Restless" in 2013 after he left his role of 22 years in the show "General Hospital." Thus, there have been speculations that he will be back in the latter show and return to his role as Jason Morgan. Burton's exit from the show has been the latest exit done on the show, following actor Justin Hartley.

Burton's Decision Follows Exit Of Justin Hartley After Taking A Role In NBC Series "This Is Us"

It can be recalled that Hartley left the "Young and the Restless" after he got a lead role in the new NBC drama series, "This is Us." After the latter was picked up for a full season following its series premiere, Hartley was sure to not be coming back to "Young and the Restless." However, his character's absence in the show was left hanging, one that could still be replaced by another actor to take the role.

His character as Adam Newman was not addressed in detail when he left the daytime soap opera and may have been presumed dead. However, there have been speculations that the character will be taken over by actor Michael Muhney. Either that or a different actor will be hired to the role, but Muhney has reportedly been eyed by the producers.
