Television soap actress Jensen Buchanan, charged with felony DUI in a head-on collision just outside Buellton in May, pleaded not guilty in Santa Maria Superior Court on Friday morning.
Buchanan appeared with defense attorney Meryl Chambers, who entered a not-guilty plea on behalf of her client. Deputy District Attorney Tiffany Dix is prosecuting the case.
Judge Patricia Kelly ordered the actress to remain at the sober living facility and continue wearing the SCRAM (electronic monitoring) bracelet on her ankle until further review next month.
Charges for 53-year-old Buchanan stem from the vehicle crash May 18 when she allegedly got behind the wheel of her Mercedes S550 with a blood alcohol level of 0.34 and drove directly into the path of a white Ford C-Max on Highway 154.
Buchanan allegedly crossed the solid double yellow line on the highway and slammed head-on into the Ford, driven by Bradley Asolas, 56, of Camarillo.
Asolas suffered major injuries in the collision and had to be extricated from his vehicle. He was airlifted to Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara.
Buchanan was also taken to the hospital where she was treated for minor injuries and arrested on suspicion of DUI. She was booked at the County Jail and posted $100,000 bail within 24 hours. The actress was charged by the District Attorney's Office in June.
According to the actress' IMDB page, Buchanan, best known for her roles in soaps such as "One Life to Live," "Another World" and "General Hospital," most recently played Judge Elise Moxley on "The Young and the Restless."
Buchanan will appear at the next court date on Nov. 30 in Department 8 to set a preliminary hearing date.
