Get soap scum off your shower screen with these 5 items - Starts at 60

Cleaning your bathroom can be a frustrating task at the best of times.

But there’s no job more frustrating in your bathroom than cleaning a glass shower screen.

Soap scum and other build up can cloud up your shower screen, and sometimes no matter how much elbow grease you put in, it won’t budge.

If you don’t want to use supermarket cleaners, or you’ve run out, here are five everyday items you can use.

1. Lemon Juice and Salt

When these products are combined they’ll tackle not only the soap scum on your shower screen, but also any rust from the frame. Just add two tablespoons of salt to one tablespoon of lemon juice and mix it into a paste. Use the paste to scrub your shower screen with a cloth. To tackle any rust, scrub the area with a toothbrush. Let the salt and lemon juice mixture sit for a few minutes before you rinse it off with warm water.

2. Fabric softener

Turns out fabric softener can be used for more than just making your clothes feel soft and smell good. Try adding a cup of fabric softener to a litre of warm water and wiping down your shower screen with the mixture. Simply rinse it off with warm water and the soap scum should be gone!

3. Bi Carb Soda

It seems you can use bi carb soda for just about anything, and cleaning your shower screen is one of them. All you have to do is put some add bi carb soda to a cloth and wipe down your shower screen while it’s wet. Apparently the bi carb soda forms a paste that eats away at the soap scum. Then, just rinse the bi carb soda off with warm water.  Not only will the Bi Carb Soda make your shower screen clean, it’ll make your bathroom smell fresh too.

4. Citrus Oil

Both lemon and orange oil work well at removing soap scum from your shower screen. Spray the oil on your shower screen and wipe it off with a cloth. Doing this once every fortnight will keep your shower screen clean and clear – and your bathroom will smell much better too.

5. Vinegar

If you’ve got some vinegar laying around the house, why not use it to clean your shower screen? All you need to do is put some vinegar in a spray bottle and spray the shower screen with it. Give the screen a good scrub and then rinse it off with warm water.
