AKRON The International Soap Box Derby has been selected as a 2018 recipient of TRIAD’s Design4Good Pro Bono Partnership Program.
TRIAD is a full service graphic design agency located in Cuyahoga Falls. Annually, the agency selects local organizations serving the community to receive the free creative services.
The service was founded in 1994 and creates award-winning marketing and design for businesses, government, nonprofits and foundations throughout the Northeast Ohio area and across the U.S. The agency specializes in branding and strategy, print design, website development, digital marketing, and video production.
"TRIAD is providing the Soap Box Derby with the creative assistance needed to launch a full-scale fundraising campaign to obtain an electronic timing system for the FirstEnergy All-American Soap Box Derby. We are excited to partner with this agency to develop the resources needed to have a successful fundraising campaign," said Mark Gerberich, president and CEO of the International Soap Box Derby.
The giving campaign will be launched in the second quarter of the year. As part of TRIAD’s services, the agency will provide graphic design for the campaign. Those services will include a theme, logo and campaign flyer.
The campaign is to raise funds for a much needed timing system for this year’s FirstEnergy All-American Soap Box Derby World Championship Race in July. Volunteers have had to manually keep the heat sheets and times through the years. The volunteers and those operating the derby have to run from the bottom of the hill to top, for example, to keep the statistics and times for the derby. An electronic system would keep the race times, qualifiers for each heat and post the names and times on the leader boards throughout the race.
Gerberich said it is exciting to have the opportunity to work with the TRIAD agency to support the campaign. He said the timing system is needed for the World Championship Race.
During the last 24 years, TRIAD has provided services that have exceeded $600,000, helping to make a difference in the community through the Design4Good Program. Since the beginning, it has believed in providing pro bono services to non-profit community organizations. Last year, TRIAD provided almost $70,000 in creative and marketing services to many organizations through Design4Good.
"Design4Good is our way of supporting our local communities in the best way we know how," said TRIAD President Rick Krochka. "Given the budget challenges of so many nonprofits, if we can help even just a little by bringing awareness and possible funding to these organizations through marketing efforts then more people will continue to benefit from their services."
The first derby was held in Dayton in 1934. It continues today as an international nonprofit with a mission to build character, knowledge, along with meaningful experiences through fair competition. It is about youth education, leadership development and family engagement. The derby also values teamwork and collaboration, mentoring, volunteerism and commitment to community.
