International Soap Box Derby names Geri Douglas Marshall as first director of development - cleveland.com

AKRON, Ohio - The International Soap Box Derby has named Geri Douglas Marshall its first director of development.

In her role, Douglas Marshall will be responsible for supporting the derby's mission through planning, developing and implementing comprehensive grant, sponsorship and fundraising programs.

"As we are in the middle of fiscal year 2018, we welcome Geri as director of development. The director of development position will intentionally further develop the derby's mission by increasing revenues and expanding our reach both regionally, nationally and internationally," said President and CEO Mark Gerberich in a news release.

A Certified Fund Raising Executive, Douglas Marshall has more than 30 years of experience in the field of development, and has worked for organizations such as IBH Addiction Recovery Center, Medina General Hospital Foundation, Akron General Development Foundation and Akron Children's Hospital. She graduated from Muskingum University and received certification in fundraising management from the Institute of Healthcare Philanthropy, Wisconsin School of Business.

The derby has also added Cory Katzenmeyer as operations coordinator. A graduate of the University of Akron's Sports Management program and former derby intern, Katzenmeyer will be responsible for overseeing the inventory component of parts and kits. Also new to the derby this year is Evan Gannon, who will replace Lynne Collier as race coordinator when she retires in July.

"The future for the derby will be to continue supporting our mission expanding our reach for the racing and education programs. We are excited to bring the talents of Geri, Cory, and Evan to the derby team as we continue to provide meaningful experiences in the community," said Gerberich in a news release.
