The free art activity allowed individuals to learn to carve with soap. They were able to take home their pieces.
CANTON While ice sculptures headlined First Friday, a warm alternative was available at Canton Museum of Art.
The museum hosted a free 'make and take' art activity, where individuals learned to carve with soap. The event occurred from 5 to 8 p.m. inside the lobby area.
In addition, students from The Goddard School had their work on display for the night. Free admission into Elijah Pierce: An American Journey also was available. Pierce was a renowned wood carver.
The soap carving activity was a tie into the Pierce exhibit.
Soap carving, "is the easiest way into getting into carving," said Erica Emerson, the museum's education manager.
The museum also had an ice sculpture outside.
