Max has the most miserable Christmas

Max Branning is in for a truly miserable festive season, not that we were expecting anything else for the Walford outcast.

Not wanting to be alone on Christmas Day Max summons his daughters, Abi and Lauren, in a bid to mend some fences. However, the ladies are having none of it and walk away from him and each other...

However, while it looks like the Brannings are broken forever, an emotional Abi soon has a change of heart and shows up to celebrate Christmas with Max.

Stacey is about to learn the truth about Max

One person who is not in the least bit happy about spending Christmas with Max, is Martin. Feeling sorry for him, Stacey has offered him a place to say and with their history – they slept together while she was married to his son – you can’t blame him. And Max seems intent on causing some trouble which results in him getting a slap from Stacey.

But the worst is yet to come for Max. Finally Stacey phone makes its way back to her complete with the voicemails sent by Jane exposing everything that Max did around the fire, Steven’s death and her disappearance.  As a frantic Max desperately tries to stop Stacey hearing these messages, his panic is clear and he starts to crack - it’s only a matter of time before the full truth emerges.

Max’s ultimate downfall is about to happen in an apocalyptic scale that will well and truly destroy the Branning family forever. And of course, Phil Mitchell will be there gloating in the shadows…

Gun and games for Linda and Mick

The loveable landlords of the Queen Vic try to put the gloom of 2017 behind them this Christmas by renewing their vows, however the fact they are about to be turfed out of their home puts a blight on their celebrations.

There’s also a little matter of Mick being mixed up with local criminal Aidan Maguire. He’s agreed to do a ‘job’ with the gangster in the hope of making enough cash to save the Vic. However he gets cold feet on Christmas Eve and as you can imagine Aidan is not best pleased. Playing with him, he leaves a special gift under the tree for Mick…

Will the Carters live happily ever after?

On Christmas Day the Carters put everything into their well-planned renewal of their wedding vows, ensuring their last Christmas as owners of the Queen Vic is the best it can be.

But an angered Aidan soon turns up and tells Mick about the present waiting for him – a gun, which he has taken the pleasure of informing the police about.

This gives the term ‘shotgun wedding’ a whole new meaning….

Karen finds herself in financial difficulty when the bailiffs arrive and take the presents she bought the kids for Christmas. With the threat of going to court weighing over them, Bernadette insists that Karen reaches out to her sister, Kandice, and ask for the money they need. Will she help them out?

Fi is sickened when she realises how deep the lies run in her family and disgusted she takes matters into her own hands – it’s payback time.

Kush and Denise plan to spend New Year’s Eve together on their own but Kush is put in a predicament when he learns Carmel and Shakil have nowhere to stay. And Masood arrives back on the Square with his aunty Mariam and uncle Arshad in tow.

Emmerdale

Over on Emmerdale, the soap is pushing the boat out again with an intriguing-sounding Christmas Day instalment. The Robron-centric episode looks to be unmissable with elements of the classic festive story A Christmas Carol and the brilliant Groundhog Day.

Robert has a nightmarish Christmas

Robert has a surreal experience this Christmas Day

The festive special will focus on a personal journey of redemption for Robert Sugden after months of turmoil. 

The episode will see Robert wake up on Christmas morning and emerge to a surreal Christmas day in the village.

Things seem strange and not quite as they should be. In a nightmarish twist, Robert keeps awakening to a different reality. Can he figure out what is real and what is imagined? And will these strange realities teach him something about the estranged love of his life Aaron Dingle?

The episode will mark a turning point in Robert and Aaron's relationship, but viewers will have to tune in to see how it all pans out.

Aaron and Alex break down barriers

Elsewhere in the Dales, Alex arrives at the Dingles house and suggests to Aaron that they spend some time apart. Aaron convinces him to stay with a kiss.

The next day, Aaron meets Alex at the pub where he decides he wants to get some things off his chest that have been coming between them. Aaron admits that he seld-harmed in the past which breaks down barriers in their burgeoning relationship. Alex is appreciates his honesty and the couple get closer.

Also happening in Emmerdale this Christmas…

Moira breaks down into floods of tears when she sees an old family photo and remembers better times. Harriet and Cain’s relationship looks to be on the rocks. Cain later tells Moira that he loves her but his declaration doesn’t go down as planned as she goes on the defensive and attacks him. Can he win her over?

Debbie heads to work for Tom and is shown around the office on her first day. She mentions what happened to Sam and Lydia and Tom brushes it off by offering to get them a lawyer. Later, Debbie is at a loose end and her colleague Susan invites her in to be the witness to sign a big deal. Viewers will soon discover the deal that Debbie has unwittingly signed…

Coronation Street

The stakes will be high on Coronation Street this Christmas, with Peter hellbent on wreaking revenge on Billy and Phelan going to evermore dramatic lengths to cover up his crimes. Also, Carla Conner is back, but is she hiding something?

Peter and Billy’s Christmas rests on a knife edge

Peter takes matters into his own hands after Billy's admission that he killed Susan

After Billy’s shocking admission that he killed Susan Barlow, Peter will take matters into his own hands and go on the hunt for revenge. He bundles Billy into the boot of his car and reverses right up to the edge of a cliff. Billy is terrified when he sees he is inches away from a sheer drop and begins praying for his life…

Viewers see a hysterical Peter confessing to Ken that he has killed Billy and stuns Adam with the bombshell news that the vicar killed his mum. Ken tries to tackle the situation by telling the Barlows to pretend to know nothing about Billy’s "accident".

However, Peter’s plan doesn’t quite work out as Billy survives the ordeal. A worried Eileen sits by his hospital bed as he lies there comatose.

Peter apologises to Adam for not telling him about Billy’s involvement in Susan’s death and begs him not to go to the police. Rosie tells Adam she has a lettter for Billy from Todd and a furious Adam sets fire to it, determined Billy will never read it.

Later, Daniel returns home to find a semi-conscious Adam on the floor having taken painkillers with whiskey.

Will Phelan’s crimes come to light?

Gary visits Anna in prison and resolves to expose Pat Phelan’s lies if it’s the last thing he does. Phelan is fuming that Seb has accepted a job working with Gary on a building project and throws him out. Things go from bad to worse when he realises that the mill Gary is working on is the one where he buried Andy and Vinny’s bodies.

Phelan quickly hatches a new plan and invites Seb for a drink. After plying him with whiskey, Phelan shows Seb his gun. Seb picks it up and admires it, and Phelan is delighted to have tricked Seb to leave his fingerprints all over the weapon.

Later, Phelan’s misdeeds threaten to catch up on him when Luke quizzes him about Andy, convinced the builder knows more than he’s letting on. Luke tells him he’s going to report Andy missing to the police and Phelan bashes him over the head with a rock. The men tussle and Luke manages to escape in his car with Phelan giving chase. Will he be able to stop Luke?

Aidan is annoyed when Carla drives onto the street and says she’s here to surprise the family but makes it clear that she hasn’t changed her mind about the factory.  Aidan is further infuriated when he sees Carla and Johnny splash the cast around the place – but where has the money come from? Also, Carla is avoiding alcohol this festive season, is she hiding something? Her choice of orange juice over wine is setting tongues wagging…

The Chesney/Daniel love-rival games continue

At Chesney and Sinead’s respective hen and stag nights, Daniel continues to get one over his love rival as he swaps Beth’s DVD of clips of Sinead’s childhood for CCTV footage of himself and Chesney fighting. Daniel tells Chesney what he has done, leading to Chesney knocking Beth over in an attempt to stop her playing the video. Chesney worries that he’s lost Sinead and Daniel has won, while Daniel will later have to wrestle with his own guilt.

Dr. Oakley's web of deciet

It may be Christmas time, but Dr. Oakley's plots and schemes aren't taking any time off as he sets out to neutralise Doug and make sure he doesn't go to the Guards, sending Emmet to have words with him. Hoping that they can work things out man to man, Emmet tries to talk Doug around but they are interrupted.

Emmet realises he needs to get him alone again and that words aren't going to be enough...

Dr. Oakley hatches many plans this Christmas

Confronting Doug, Emmet finds himself in a world of pain when they are interrupted yet again, with someone ending up seriously hurt, leaving Emmet overcome with guilt and the fear of what might happen next, which only adds to Oakley's power over him.

It's a case of spinning plates for Oakley, who is also continuing to blackmail Charlotte, holding Paddy's secret over her head in exchange for her taking the blame for the poisoning, while setting Miriam up, and keeping an eye on Damien.

Damien's having a blue Christmas

Damien's having a turbulent time this holiday season trying to keep things friendly with Caoimhe, but he can't hide his disappointment when she says she won't be joining him and Saoirse on Christmas day.

As Caoimhe and Saoirse wait to see Santa in the Community Centre, Damien bursts in and demands that he be allowed to take Saoirse away with him, as he's tired of waiting to have some quality time with her. When Tommy tries to calm the situation down, he ends up getting a fist to the face, before Damien takes Saoirse away for the afternoon.

When it comes time for Caoimhe and Tommy to collect Saoirse, there is all out panic when they realise they aren't in Damien's house, and they worry that he has run away with her as they are nowhere to be found...

Kerri-Ann gets some big news

After doing everything she could to get into the swing of Christmas, there was one thing Kerri-Ann didn't think of when she was putting together her party plans...

Just as things were starting to settle down in the Kerri-Ann/Decco/Mondo love triangle, with Mondo trying to make a clean start with Melanie, and Decco still living in blissful ignorance, Kerri-Ann takes a pregnancy test, with the positive result set to rock her world.

Despite hiding the pregnancy test from Decco, as she fears Mondo may be the father, he stumbles across it anyway and thinks all his Christmasses have come at once.

When they go for a scan, the due date seems to align more with Mondo than Decco... But what will Kerri-Ann do?
