And the head-on horror smash left three people – including both of the actress’ parents – dead.

Lars Falkholt, 69, and his wife Vivian, 60, were killed after a four-wheel-drive crossed the road and collided with a car carrying the Falkholt family, police believe.

Passers-by and cops pulled Jessica, who played Hope Morrison in the TV soap, and Annabelle from the wreckage as the vehicles were engulfed in flames.

The remains of those killed in the crash were so badly burned it could take weeks to formally identify them, news.com.au reports.

The girls were airlifted to hospital where they remain in critical conditions.

Police are understood to have tracked down and informed extended family members of those involved.

As loved ones flocked to be at the bedsides of the stricken sisters, a family friend said: “They were a very close family and had been on a quiet getaway.

“Jessica is a most beautiful person.”

Police said they were “investigating the behaviour” of the driver of the other car just prior to the accident after talking to witnesses.

Craig Anthony Whitall, 50, also perished in the inferno.

Officers could not confirm if he had been using his mobile phone at the time of the crash, according to the Daily Telegraph.
