EastEnders: Viewers slam soap after Ian Beale leaves Louie at ... - Mirror.co.uk

EastEnders viewers were furious after Ian Beale was seen leaving his grandson at home to go to the pub armed with only a baby monitor.

In scenes broadcast on Friday evening, Ian meets former step-dad Phil Mitchell in the Queen Vic and proudly presents a baby monitor. Looking as baffled as most viewers, Phil asks what Ian is playing at.

Ian then explains he was late as he had to get baby Louie to sleep, to which grouch Phil replies: "Thought you were done with all that."

Ever ready to explain Ian says he can hear the baby's wails through the monitor and be home with seconds.

The offending baby monitor
Phil looked as flummoxed as the viewers

Viewers weren't so impressed.

One fumed on Twitter: "Wait did ian just leave the kid on his own and go to the pub with the baby monitor just because he could be back in seconds if the kid makes a noise?"

Another added: "Why didn't Phil pop round Ian's instead of meeting in pub and Ian taking baby monitor."

While one exasperated fan wrote: "So Ian has gone to pub and left the child indoors on his own but thinks it’s ok cos he’s got a baby monitor."

Others, however, were more forgiving: "Come on guys, Ian's home is close to the Queen Vic and, guess what, it's only a TV programme."

It comes to something when we agree with Phil Mitchell

It comes as EastEnders finally aired their Christmas trailer - and it looks like it's going to be a horrible festive season for Max Branning.

Max is first seen looking worse for wear as he arrives at someone's doorstep in a hoodie and bags under his eyes.

As viewers will know, his brother Jack finally found out that he was behind Matthew being taken away from him and booted him out. This could mean that Max is now living on the streets after being rejected by everyone in Walford.

Karen Taylor then appears on screen, after having finally found the phone that her children nicked, and asks Keegan to put it through Stacey's door.

Of course, the phone still has Jane's voicemail message warning Stacey about what Max is capable of.

EastEnders favourite Charlie Cotton makes shock return with Matthew to reveal the full extent of Max Branning's treachery to devastated Jack

Stacey is then seen questioning what Max is up to, asking what he is up to.

The camera zooms in on her five missed calls, one from her mum and Martin as well as three from Jane. There are also five voicemail messages.

We then hear an upset Jane telling saying on the phone Max is holding to his ear: "He's out of control, Stacey, and he is capable of anything.

Stacey is then seen leaning against the tabletop, upset. Has she listened to the voicemail message?

Lauren tells her dad, who is later seen crying alone in the Square: "I think you need help."

"There's a virus in my head that's making me do all these things," he says in a voiceover.

Max is then seen talking to an extremely upset Stacey, who screams at him to let her go.

In the next scene, Kathy and Ian are seen drenched as she pleads with Max to "finish" this.

As the rain engulfs Walford, a fight breaks out in the street - and it looks like it could be Phil beating Max up.

The Mitchell threatens: "You're over, Max."

Will Phil KILL Max as revenge?!
