EASTENDERS is set to shock viewers this Christmas by killing off a Walford resident.

The BBC soap has come out all guns blazing in recent months and hopes to give viewers a Christmas to remember.

The Daily Star reports one of the show's main characters will be bumped off in a shock twist.

Show boss John Yorke told the publication the festive episodes are "an essential part of the season like the Queen's Speech."

He added: "To guide us through the episode is Mick and Linda were about to renew their wedding vows, I came up with this line 'Someone old, someone new, someone's dead, someone's blue'.

"We really want this Christmas to be full of shocks and surprises and we have some shocking twists coming up.

As the cast remain tight lipped over who will die this Christmas, viewers will be left on the edge of their seats as they wait to find out.

The explosive Christmas episodes come after John has managed to double ratings with sensational plots.

Viewers will also see former lovers Stacey Fowler and Max Branning rekindling their romance on the living room floor — 12 years to the day since their first affair was exposed.

This week The Sun revealed Jessie Wallace’s character Kat Moon will be returning early next year, despite being left for dead in spin-off series Redwater this year.
