DOUGLAS COUNTY - A wildfire burning in Douglas County, about 12 miles north of Soap Lake, has scorched about 4,000 acres with a handful of homes threatened.

The fire is burning near Whitehall Road and Road 7 Southeast, about eight miles south of state Route 2, Foreman said.

State mobilization has been approved to bring in additional resources.

Multiple fire agencies from both Douglas and Grant counties are on scene. Foreman said several homes are threatened but fire personnel are positioned to protect structures.

Firefighters say wind has been an issue, causing the blaze to jump containment lines.

No homes have been damaged.
