SOAP LAKE - Soap Lake police say a man is in jail after his attempt to run them over last Friday.
At around 2:30 that afternoon, officers responded to a trespassing complaint at a property in the 700 block of Main Avenue in Soap Lake. Officers approached the man who they say gave them a false name.
After a short time, police say the man got into his truck and sped towards the officers who had to jump out of the way to avoid getting hit. The pursuit by car last only three blocks when the suspect got out and ran. The chase on foot lasted for about 150 yards and officers were forced to tase him.
The suspect they chased down was identified as Kyle Simpson. He’s been booked into the Grant County Jail on first degree assault charges. Simpson has a lengthy criminal history.
