Off-duty NYPD cop busted for stealing soap from Newburgh Walmart - New York Daily News

He’s so clean it’s a crime.

An off-duty NYPD officer was busted for stealing soap, toothbrushes and other cleaning supplies from a Walmart in Newburgh, N.Y., cops said.

Shawn Carter, 44, who lives in neighboring New Windsor, was using the self-checkout line, but he only scanned some of his items through on Friday night, police sources said.

He didn’t pay for $46.84 in merchandise — Irish Spring body wash, three toothbrushes, Percil laundry detergent containers, and Brute-brand plastic bags, police sources said.

Carter, who’s assigned to Transit Bureau Special Operations, made $112,888 with overtime in 2016, payroll records show.

He was suspended after the arrest

He was charged with petit larceny, issued a desk ticket, and must appear in court Jan. 9, police said.

Carter did not return a message seeking comment Monday.
