Former soap actor arrested on child molestation charges - Cherokee Tribune Ledger News

A former soap opera actor living in Woodstock was arrested last month on child molestation charges, a Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office spokesman said.

Corey Sligh, 29, was booked into the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center Oct. 14 on one count of child molestation, Lt. Jay Baker said Monday.

“As is often the case in these types of incidents, the reported victim was known to Corey Sligh,” Baker said. “I’m not giving specific information about the victim, but she was younger than 10 years old at the time of the incident.”

The alleged molestation was reported to sheriff’s office detectives in late September, police reports show, and Sligh was arrested nearly three weeks later after investigators gathered enough evidence to make an arrest in the case.

Investigators say the alleged molestation was reported by the girl’s parents.

“They got enough evidence to arrest him and charge him with child molestation,” Baker said.

Sheriff’s office deputies were unaware that Sligh was an actor until the office began receiving calls from national media outlets earlier this week, Baker said.

Sligh, who is originally from Georgia, appeared as an extra on the long-running CBS soap opera “The Young and the Restless” and also starred in several other movies and shows, including the 2012 comedy series “All About Lizzie” and the 2008 film “God is Dead,” according to IMDb.

Sligh was released the day of his arrest on a $22,000 bond, jail records show.
