Corey Seth Sligh is also facing charges of child molestation in an incident alleged to have occurred in Georgia.
DEFUNIAK SPRINGS — A former actor on the soap opera "The Young and the Restless" was arrested Sunday in Walton County on charges of molesting a child.
It's the second time that Corey Seth Sligh, a 29-year-old resident of Canton, Georgia, has been accused of molesting a child under the age of 10.
The incidents allegedly occurred in two different jurisdictions: Cherokee County, Georgia, and most recently in Walton County.
On Sept. 27, the Walton County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by a mother who said Sligh touched her young daughter inappropriately while they were vacationing in Rosemary Beach, according to his arrest warrant affidavit. The child said Sligh also grabbed her hand, forcing her to touch him inappropriately.
The alleged incidents happened in June and July, while the victim was under the age of 10.
The child underwent a forensic interview, during which she told investigators where the incidents occurred and gave specifics about the location of her family members at the time the abuse took place.
Sligh was interviewed by investigators Oct. 14 and acknowledged that his penis was grabbed by the child, but that it wasn’t an attempt on his part to “get off” or do anything sexual, the report said. He also confirmed specific details, corroborating the child’s account.
The victim’s parent told Walton County authorities that Sligh faced similar allegations in Georgia.
The Georgia victim’s parents reported the alleged abuse on Sept. 24. That female victim was also under the age of 10, according to documents from Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities there said the victim was “known to” Sligh and that they investigated the accusation and found “evidence to support an arrest,” according to the public information officer.
He was charged with child molestation Oct. 14 in Georgia and released the same day on a $22,000 bond, reports said.
The Walton County warrant, on charges of lewd and lascivious molestation on a victim younger than 10, was signed Nov. 16.
Sligh turned himself in Sunday and was released Monday with an ankle monitor, according to the Walton County Sheriff's Office. Bond was set at $99,000.
According to the Walton County Clerk of Courts website, Sligh applied for indigent status, but his request was denied.
