And ITV bosses managed to spark an outcry on social media after they cancelled Monday night's of the soap to make room for a longer edition of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

Scrapping the usual double bill to squeeze in a longer episode of the reality show, Corrie fans took to Twitter in their droves to complain.

As many fans sat down ready for their second slice of Northern drama, they were greeted by the sight Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly fronting the latest instalment from the jungle. 

Despite the second episode scheduled to play as part of an hour-long episode on Wednesday night, fans were left fuming.

Many users questioned the move, with some labelling the move a 'joke and others asking for 'help'.

Summing up the mood, @Brassylasy wrote: 'I was waiting for Corrie to come back on and now I have been subjected to the programme with people I don't like. Help! #Corrie #ImACeleb.'

@mariapantellis, tweeted: 'As if the second #Corrie ain't on because of #ImACeleb.' Followed by a furious emoji.

One user, Alex Fantastic, went one step further, venting: 'Only 1 #Corrie tonight so #imaceleb is 30 minutes earlier what a f***ing joke #ant&dec Coronation Street much better than that pile of s*** [sic].'

Breaking the bad news on the show's official Twitter account earlier on in the day, show bosses wrote an apologetic message.

'Don't panic!! Just to confirm we are still on at 7.30pm tonight with one episode, with an extra special 60 minute ep. on Wednesday. #Corrie,' read the Tweet.

Though it seems that many were unprepared for the change, which I'm A Celebrity getting an extra-long outing.

The show's highlights included Ola Jordan getting axed, Carol Vorderman and Sam Quek taking on a high-flying Bushtucker Trial and the campmates winning a trip to the jungle's pub.

The one hour, 30 minute instalment finished with Ola following in Danny Baker and Lisa Snowdon's footsteps as she left the jungle.
